"I flunked my A-Levels, and then I decided to get into recruitment consulting. But I realized after 3 months that while it was what I wanted, it wasn’t what I envisioned it to be. So I dragged it out, tried all sorts of things - a dog shelter for example because I have a dog, and a bunch of other things. But I realized I wasn’t good at any of these. But I liked to cook, and she liked to bake, so we decided to get into making tarts instead.”
"What was the worst reaction you received?"
“‘Oh you study so hard - then you wasted your money on a degree and now you’re doing this.’ My classmates, people that I grew up with - they said I should have done it right away instead of doing my degree. That way you have to accommodate so many people - but I realized that I can’t please everyone.”
"Yeah my mum told me.. ‘Yeah, work a little more’. My dad said ‘..oh you’re gonna die’. Not in this way, but he said that I’ll end up working myself to death. But in the end, he was a lot more supportive. And my mum just wanted me to work a little longer. So I worked for a year, got my promotion, but still .. not my thing. So they finally decided to back me."
"What was the best reaction you received?"
"When they all said that it was awesome! Just to be able to gain back everyone’s confidence.. Because they all asked in the beginning, ‘Are you sure? Are you sure?’. But then they tried out the tarts, and they were like ‘Woah’."
